Learning is one of the most important values of 1x. We have a range of learning tools like critique, comments written in curation and tutorials. Right now, we are working very hard on creating the biggest collection of high quality photo tutorials on the internet in order to help people all over the world to take their photography to the next level and spread the joy and passion of this craft.

A tutorial is the story behind your photo describing how it was made. It should include the idea behind the photo, the planning, the preparation, the execution editing, three specific hints for taking a photo like this and a short biography. It should also include extra material like images from the photo shoot, before and after editing images, screen shots from Photoshop etc.

If you'd like to write tutorials for your published photos you will get 3 months of Pro membership and 3000 award points on 1x for each tutorial you write. This means that if you write 4 tutorials you will get an entire year of free Pro membership. And there is no limit on how many tutorials you can write.

Here are detailed instructions if you'd like to be published in our upcoming digital tutorial books to be released in the autumn this year. Send the finished tutorials by email to tutorials[at]1x.com.

Write
I was recently contacted by Cristian and wrote a tutorial for you. It was very fun and I learned a lot about my own image since this process made me rethink every approach I did in the past and why I did it. So I think this is really a great idea. I was offered 500 points, now you mention 3000 points. Just to make it clear, I do not want to rant about why there are more points available now. Perfectly OK for me, since at the time I wrote the tutorial, I was aware that I'll get 500 points. I am just questioning whether 3000 points isn't a bit too much? As I understand it these award points are the same as curation points (or am I wrong here?) and 3000 points would make you a Lvl5 curator just by writing a single tutorial. Does writing a tutorial make someone a great curator in an instant?
Arg! Just scrolled down and have seen the post about the award points. OK, I was wrong. Forget my comment above.
Sorry about the confusion. There are two different systems the level system in curation and award points for the rest of the site. When you update your score in your profile you will get 3000 award points for every tutorial you have written, including the older ones. We increased the points to make the score more balanced and writing tutorials is a very much appreciated contribution to the site.
What's that thing now, a "tutorial" ??
A tutorial is the story behind your photo describing how it was made. It should include the idea behind the photo, the planning, the preparation, the execution editing, three specific hints for taking a photo like this and a short biography. It should also include extra material like images from the photo shoot, before and after editing images, screen shots from Photoshop etc.
If there is no limit for the number of tutorials we can write, Is there a limit on how much pro membership we can earn with tutorial writing? I seem to remember that you could only get up to 1 year of pro membership for writing tutorials. Has that changed?
There is no upper limit anymore so if you write 100 tutorials you will get 25 years of Pro membership and so on!
